The Ten Kingdoms still simmer with hostilities, long after the fall of the Empire. Shaun Grayson went against her parents’ wishes to become an apprentice knight, knowing the dangers she could face. But she never expected a war to break out in the middle of her training or that the king would put his daughter’s life in her hands.
As an army lays siege to Riverend’s castle, the king tells Shaun to take his daughter Sara to safety. They flee into the night, pursued by blood-thirsty creatures sent to hunt them down. The tensions between Shaun and Sara complicate things enough, but then Shaun is wounded, threatening to keep her from completing her mission.
Desperate to keep Sara safe, Shaun will risk everything to find a way back to the king before it’s too late.
